We never go to the day long celebrationbecause it’s just too hot, but we do try to find a place in town to park the car and watch the firewworks. This year we found a great spot in the parking lot of a local church, and sat to wait out the heat and the last of the daylight. I got a shot of theboys in the car as we considered sitting inside to watch the fireworks. But when the lights went out at the park, we knew the fireworks were about to start so hopped outand scoped a spot behind the outbuildings, with a perfect view. We were serenaded by abat not too happy we’d encroached on his hunting ground, and entertained by a rabbitdisturbed by the presence of humans in his area. The fireworks were fun, as we whistledJohn Phillip Sousa along with them and wished America a happy birthday. Of course, Ihave no shots of the fireworks, because, once again, my batteries had lost their charge,mid-event. Story of my life. I REALLY need a backup set.
