This LO is for the weekly challenge to use colored pencils. I've used them to color a rubber stamped hydrangea (on seed pocket) and the a butterfly on “little” tag. This LO is very special to me because the design and items I included are very symbolic of new life, growth, and the hidden potential in a little seed. The monogram “G” breaks through the paper as a seed would break through the ground. I tried to use very organic colors and textures to convey growth and life.I made the “G” monogram myself (pmail me if you want any useful tips on the how part). It's inspired by Heidi Swapp ghost alphas, I was staring at them thinking: “Now if only I could fit some seeds in it”…this was the result. There's so many techniques here: rubber stamping, heat embossing, machine and hand sewing, distressing, also used Swarovski crystals for the center of the Primas. Used library pocket coluzzle to make the seed packet. The tag is metal with vellum overlay. Butterflies are also cut from vellum (collage paper packet).Journaling: Dear Son… You came into this world with your hips contracted into flexion from growing inside me in a breech position. The nurses measured you 20 ins. noting: ”He’s probably 21 ins., but because we can’t stretch him out we’ll write it as 20 ins”. Just 1 inch, but it made a difference to me. I was a bit irritated that they downgraded you to a smaller measurement . It took my womb many months to sustain you and gain that one inch of growth. We first saw you on the ultrasound as a tiny seedling with a tiny dot for a heart. A seed symbolizes life’s inertia waiting for the right environment. We will provide you with all the nurturance for you to thrive. May you live up to your potential. Love Mama
