Well, this is kind of funny because this whole card started really to be part of the Pumpkin Patch Parade Challenge and was all about a pumpkin patch but then some other challenges that were whirling around in the back of my mind start to demand that I put them in, so I did , and ended up with this many layered thing, only to find, on rechecking the requirements, that The Pumpkin Patch Challenge doesn't allow combining so, instead of being a Pumpkin Patch card, this is an entry for three other challenges. Funny how we can start down one road then get completely turned around! For the Stencil Time Challenge.. I used an electronic cutter to cut out a couple of spooky trees, then used the paper they were cut out of as a stencil to create the trees in the center panel. Sponged them in with white acrylic ink then softened the colour down a bit with a light application of antique linen distress ink over the top.For the Spread Your Wings challenge… the card includes three things with wings; the owl, the raven, and the bats, which is kind of obvious but the ‘spreading your wings’ part takes some explanation. In making this card I used several elements that I produced in photoshop on my computer. I've been doing photography for a long time but only rather recently started experimenting with more in depth use of photoshop to create images that are less photos of real things and more creative works of individual expression. Although what I've done here, like the background for that last panel, with the ghost woods and the spooky tree, is pretty simple, it used some of the new photoshop techniques I've learned and kind of points in a direction I can see going, with my cards becoming more a multi media blend of traditional and digital art.For the ABC's of Stamping challenge; I started the card intending to use Owl as my first word so that gives me O,P,Q,R and S as my letters. I admit Q was a bit of a challenge but here it is:O = owl, P= pumpkin, Q= quadrilateral (yes that square that the Ghosts and Goblins is stamped on is a quadrilateral) R= raven, and S=stars. Then as the project took on a life of it's own and kept getting bigger I added another series starting with A.A=alpha diecuts, B=bats, C=cat, D= digital elements, E= embossing. This card has a lot of parts so I'm going to give a quick idea of some of the things I did then I'll be happy to answer questions if anyone wants more details. The Whoo, Owl, and raven were cut out on my cutter and glued together, attached to the card with glue or glue dots. The front panel is three kinds of PP and the sentiment at the bottom was computer printed .The inside left panel has a die cut tree, a swirly fall leaf stamp, embossed in copper and a moon made from a recollections punch, stamped with some bats in black and given a bit of gold edge and glow with Pearl Ex pigment. The Raven panel has a die cut spooky tree cut down a bit and used as a branch , a square recollections sentiment stamp on black with white embossing , and a phrase also on black, hand written in opaque pen. The center panel has the stenciled trees described above and a border done with a hand cut mask, versamark ink, and Pearl Ex green pigment. Also the stars were done with interference violet Pearl Ex. The frame and the stars show up more or less depending on the light and have a kind of shimmer to them. The pumpkins were stamped, embossed with orange and fussy cut. The cat is a computer image, colour accents added with Copics. The ticket was just stamped in black, clear embossed and fussy cut. The fianl right hand panel consist of a photoshop created background and sentiment which was then stamped with a large background tree stamp and lightly dusted with green Pearl Ex to try to create the impression of a glowing ghost forest , I used a little masking to keep the pearl ex off the sentiment and the area where I stamped the spooky Owl tree in Lava Black ink and embossed clear. Phew…think that's it. If you've read all the way to here, thanks for your patience, and thanks for looking.
