Who knew …we would find this little slice of nature just steps from our front door. We had only lived in our house for a little over a month on one drizzly day, when the kids didn’t have school I suggested that we go exploring. At the top of our street we knew there was a path that connected to another neighborhood, so I figured we’d go for a stroll. But what we found was so much more … another trail that twisted and turned into a thick forest of trees. “Let’s check it out,” I said and so we did. As we started down the path we could hear the loud bangs of the construction workers building the last homes in our development. But soon those noises were traded by the sounds of a light rain hitting the tree tops above. The thick canopy protected us from the rain and we could no longer hear the construction noise. We were obviously not the first to discover the trail; many had come before us leaving traces of forts built from tree branches. Then our journey came to an abrupt end … a NO TRESPASSING sign and barbed wire meant we could continue no longer. We were instantly transported back to reality and turned around climbing up the steep hill heading for home. The sounds of the air compressors and hammers grew louder as we reached the top. Although our journey was cut short it was fun exploring the woods behind our neighborhood. The deep forest made us feel as if we were miles away from civilization yet in reality a cup of hot coco was only minutes away. I submitted this LO for the CK fall call - I did it quite awhile ago but wasn't 100% happy with it so I made a few changes and resubmitted it - still no luck. Part of the bottom gets cut off - hand cut title - paper by KI and Mustard Moon (i think) - scrapworks “f”, foofala flower, MM definition and rubons - scrap arts photo corners and bazzill brads, file folder and tab by AL. Thanks for looking ~Summer
