Did this for the BPS journaling class. Threw the layout together last night - might re-do that but the journaling stays. :) Junkitz pp, MM and AC letter stickers. Journaling: Ok, so it’s not exactly the greatest story ever told but it made me the proudest mama in town when my little three-year old girl went up on stage to tell a story. I certainly didn’t expect her to speak. We went to the Three Apples Storytelling Festival because it was held in Bedford for the first time. It sounded interesting and the bonus of free shows was what sold it for me. We arrived at the festival in time for the Swapping Grounds – a place where veterans, new performers, adults and kids could tell a story. Tellers who were performing in the rest of the festival did short sets so that we could get a chance to see them in an informal setting.Molly and Mago were enthralled by all the storytellers. They were mesmerized by the creepy Halloween story “where is my head?” They giggled along with the little kids who went up and told the story three little pigs. Towards the end the MC called out for more storytellers. I was chatting with some friends and was shocked when I turned towards the stage to see Molly and her two cousins up on stage! Good scrapbooker that I am, I ran to get my camera and parked myself in the front row. I couldn’t believe that Molly, who is usually quiet and reserved in public, was standing up on stage in the middle of town! Strangely enough she was the only kid who introduced herself. Although the others are usually outgoing, they suddenly became very shy and wouldn’t speak. I was getting a little worried about what would happen next. They were asked to tell a story. Nobody said anything. Then Molly goes up to the microphone says “once there was a mermaid”. The MC said “Great! I love mermaids! What happened next?” Molly steps closer to the mike and says “…who was turned into a fish”. “The end.” They took a bow and left the stage to the rapturous applause of parents, family and friends. Next year we’ll have a slightly longer story ready, just in case she feels like giving a repeat performance.
