Every apartment in Atlanta has a dishwasher. For the 10 years I lived in my own place, I never had to scrub a dish. If it was dirty after the first wash, just run it through again was my theory. I have always despised washing dishes by hand. The idea of touching food that has been in someone else’s mouth made me gag a little bit. Now I live in New York City where you’re lucky if you have enough room for your food alone, so you can imagine how many apartments might come furnished with dishwashers. Mine happens to be one of those that’s not. But I’ve come to find that washing dishes can be relaxing in some ways. I might not get to them often, but when I do, it doesn’t seem as bad as I once believed. I simply turn up some Corinne Bailey Rae and get to scrubbing. Trust and believe though, the next time I move, I must have a dishwasher.
