As a young adolescent, I’d spend hours copying letter forms out of an old Letraset catalog I had snagged somewhere. As I grew older, I continued to draw all my letters–on cards, posters, even recipe books. As the personal computer began to be more and more prevalent, I fell in love with all the fonts I could use. I collected them and collected them, until my Windows font folder was so full my entire machine bogged down! I soon learned about font management software. And then… an affordable font-MAKING piece of software became my pride and joy!Throughout my design life, I’ve been so grateful to fontographers everywhere who were willing to share their endeavors, for free. And so, I decided when I made my first font that I too would make my fonts free, and “pay back” the design community in that fashion. Fonts take hours and days to make; years, if you’re a pro. I’m not a pro, but still I devote those hours to refining, comparing stroke weights, creating kerning pairs, and generally trying to make something half-way decent. My family thinks I’m nuts, but that’s nothing new! I also know that this is no Mother Teresa endeavor, but I’m an introvert, and it’s what I have to give…
