Holiday traditions are something very important to our family. Every year when we decorate for Christmas, we make it a family event. While Dad and the boys get the tree out and assemble it, I get out the other decorations. We all decorate the tree together. Last year was the first year that Drew actively participated. He was so excited each and every time he helped place an ornament on the tree.

For the layout I used one of my Simple Starts Templates (no. 8). I also used Crystal Wilkerson's gorgeous Vintage Candy Cane kit. I adore the colors and textures in this kit. Everything is pretty much just clipped into place on the template with a few minor tweaks.

The frame I used originally had green stitches which I changed to red in Photoshop (CS4). To do this color change, target the frame layer, go up to Image > Adjustments > Replace Color. In the Selection section you'll want to click on the color swatch and hover your eyedropper over one of the green stitches and click. Click OK. Next you'll want make sure your "selection" box is checked and slide the "fuzziness" slider until all you see are the stitches. Next in the Replacement section, you'll want to click on the color swatch and select a color that you want to use to replace the green. I simply sampled the red color on one of the patterned papers that I used in the layout. To finish, you can play with the hue/saturation and lightness sliders to get the perfect color. Then click OK.

Supplies: Crystal Wilkerson - Vintage Candy Cane. Jen Martakis - Simple Starts No. 8 and Subtle Shadows. Fonts - 2peas Champagne and Century Gothic.
