Lauri, I think you're right about the background paper. It looks good, but it may have looked even better with a solid colored or a more muted pattern. I was just afraid to use anything with any type of curve in it. The challenge was we had to use all squares, rectangles and straight lines. You have the best ideas!!
Michele... I like that you used different sizes of squares. The colors look great for your son's picture. I like the journaling hidden. Nice work! WTG on your challenge!!

Michele, I love the different ways you've found to use the squares! Wow! Everything from photo corners to your own unique embellishments! Because the squares make the lo busy, I would probably have used a solid color background paper. But the stripes still look good the way you have it! And they match your squares too! I see a "Lift" and presume it is hidden journaling. I was just going to suggest you do that, but you've beaten me to it! Very nice work.
Here is the lo I did for the Scrapvivor Challenge Week One "Hip to be Square". This is from week one. We could only use square embellishments. It was quite a challenge.
