Yosemite in 1997, months after it experienced some severe flooding. Journaling reads "The last time the extended Porter family visited Yosemite in 2007, it was dry as a bone, but 10 years earlier Yosemite ahd the opposite problem. In the winter of 1997, the Merced River flooded so severely it permanently wiped out one of Yosemite's campgrounds. No trace of the campground exists today. In the ssummer of 1997, when the Porters made their then-annual visit, concrete toilets and a phone booth were strewn all over. A sign is still there showing how high the flood reached. Also that year the waterfalls in Yosemite like not often seen before, and never since.
