Local fireworks show, and in the top left photo, my neighbor's patriotic flower bed.Journaling reads "Our fireworks venue this year was a familiar but unusual place. We were not aware until this year that fireworks are lit off Mt. Rubidoux, and the prime viewing spot is the old cemetery below the base of the mountain. Don at first wanted to leave town and enjoy whatever events my parents had planned for the Fourth of July. But my parents felt they weren't doing anything terribly exciting. Then Don learned that Rob Alwin, one of the Black Diamonds in Mona Vie, was having an open barbecue for his team on July 3 and it would be fine if we came too. That meant we would have to make our own plans for the Fourth, as we did a year ago. The difference this time was knowing of a fireworks show in Riverside. A great fireworks show at that.
