Here are some things to consider ... The page is divided into two sections, the green on top and floral on the bottom. The light blue strip provides a nice visual transition between the two backgrounds, but it also is a divider. I would like to see the two sections more unified. One possibility would be to border the page with blue strips. Another that comes to mind would be running a strip of the floral paper across the top of the page, passing under the "A". Next I would consider balance. The page is heavier on the left -- the left side is filled top to bottom with the big A, the big flower and a good-sized photo. On the right, the top and bottom corners both lack visual weight. One possibility would be to move the large flower to the bottom right corner and add smaller, lighter embellishment in its place. Perhaps three small versions of the flower, with the gold embellishments in the center? As you design pages, another thing you might want to consider is creating a focal point on your page -- a dominant element that the eye grabs onto. I feel like there are too many large elements on this page competing for attention, rather than locking me in. Now, I don't want you to think "Ugh, she hates this page!" Not so -- the colors are great and the inking is a nice touch. And you journaled -- yeah! But I hope that thinking about the basic design principles of unity, balance and focal point will help you breeze through future pages! Thanks for giving me an opportunity to share on the board.
We found this covered bridge in Thomaston, Georgia - one of only a few left in the state. There is a hidden journal under the bridge photo. It reads:
While we were living in Thomaston, we learned of an old covered bridge in the area and decided to fnd it. We stopped into a cafe for breakfast and ask directions. The waitress told us it was off Georgia Hwy 19 on "Island" Road. We searched for "Island" Road but could not find it. Although we were both Born in Georgia, neither of us have heavy Southern drawls as the waitress had and we had a hard laugh when we found the bridge on "Allen" Road.
