This is for the Back to School event here at Two Peas. Our schools are losing dollars due to budget cuts and we all need to be very mindful of what we can do to help. Box Tops and Labels for Education is a tried and true way to bring in extra money/school products but I have found from volunteering at the schools that not a lot of children bring them in. I know at our house, I save them religiously but my husband who keeps us more organized tends to toss them. I throw them where ever and they eventually build up to an unmanagable point in our kitchen drawers. We needed a solution. For quite a while I have thought that I needed to create a gathering spot for all of the Box Tops and labels for Education. I used an empty Crystal Light box to create this “Labels for Education” container. I used the October Afternoon Report Card line to create the vintage school look. You need to use a very sticky adhesive on plastic or else the paper pops right off the plastic so I used the Helmar Adhesive Runner for the paper to plastic part and then I used the Helmar 450 for the rest. I punched little holes in the side and tied bakers twine to make a hanger so that I could hang it on a hook. Kitchen space is at a premium in our house. Haning it keeps it out of the way but it is still easy to access. I adhered the paper to the top first and then drew the ticket slot and then used a craft knife to cut the slot out. It was very simple. This would be a GREAT project to make for family members to help encourage them to save the labels for your child's school. We can make a difference one label at a time. :)
