another latina challenge submission! I had so much trouble with this, collage style is so much more difficult than it looks! I was determined to use these loteria cards though, so I plugged on. Loteria, the classic, cheap family game everyone can play! I love the shot of Marissa on her abuela's lap. Abuela is showing her which card to look for. Enrique's mother doesn't speak English, and as Marissa grows older, it gets harder and harder for them to communicate. It breaks abuela's heart, for Marissa is her little darling. When we are young, language is universal, but eventually, we stop listening with our hearts so much, don't we?
