Journaling read:Katie and Doodle: My grandparents Katherine and Geroge Yokley, Jr. I remember coming to stay on the farm during the hot, sweaty summers of central Tennessee. On the farm I had dozens of cousins to play with; playing ball in the field for hours after “bacca” was harvested, then spending the evening chasing lighting bugs. Grandma Katie, I still remember your cooking over a coal stove and how excited you were when the gas stove was delivered, I remember the insurance man coming to collect the premium and sitting for a spell, just long enough for a cold drink. I remember your cookin’ and how there was always a country ham in the “box” because you knew I adored country ham and mayo sandwiches. Granddaddy, I remember how I loveeeeed to comb your thick, curly hair. You would take it as long as you could before you would say, “Baby, you’re making granddaddy’s head hurt!” Then you would have a sudden need to use the bathroom. Like you, I am extremely tender-headed. Most of all, I remember the love you shared with each other and with us. Grandma Katie and granddaddy I have told my children about you and my experiences. Because I remember, you still live. Your first grandchild, Marilyn_______________Thanks for looking. MM brads, walnut ink, fonts-Signature & Texas Hero, unknown pattern paper from my hoard.
