This feels a little different for me, but I had SO much fun creating it and I've been wanting to do this layout for quite some time. Had it pictured in my head WAY differently, but that's okay! I'm aiming to graduate from my Ph.D. program next summer…and there's a famous study that finds people who write down their goals are more proficient at achieving them, so it can't hurt, right? :) I used the fun and funky kit “Couture Sampler” by Paula Duncan as the main color inspiration for all the adds on to her featured kit. Hope you like it! :)
~Teresa
Journaling: This is the year. It’s finally my time. I will graduate with a Ph.D. in clinical neuroscience in the summer of 2007. As I enter my 5th year of training next August, I must keep my eye on the prize. This journey in my life has not been easy. My research has been plagued with problems, most of them out of my control. It is only NOW that the hard work and dedication is finally starting to pay off. It’s a small goal really…..to have some impact on the world around me…to stop the suffering of depression in the lives of so many people by developing a better understanding of how our brains process emotional events and feelings. I love this work. I love learning, of being a part of something bigger than myself. To know that someday the work I do might be of some help. My research study is entering its final stages and I’m so proud to know that my advisors are encouraged by the results and encouraging me to aim high in where this data is published. It won’t be long until I defend my thesis and obtain the ever-elusive title of “Doctor of Philosophy, Medical Faculty” frommy university and party in the Nobel hall. Here is my plan to achieve that goal-1. Continue to study, learn and achieve proficiency in my study subjects.2. Collect, process, analyze and interpret data for 60 patients.3. Complete and submit 3 positron emission tomography papers for publication.4. Defend half-time review and defense in Sweden this June, 2006.5. Present initial project findings at OHBM this June, 2006.6. Present advanced project findings at SFN, 2006 and 1 add’l meeting.7. Complete and submit 3-4 fMRI papers for publication.8. Develop action plan for my thesis defense at KI, assemble thesis.9. Have 3 papers published, and at least 4 in press for defense in 2007!10. Continue development of my teaching abilities.11. Make arrangements for a postdoctoral fellowship or faculty position.12. Complete remaining coursework and commencement requirements.13. Assemble committee members and prepare for public defense.14. Successfully defend my thesis.15. Remember to take it day by day, minute by minute and attempt to “Enjoy the Journey”.
Credits:: Couture Sampler by Paula Duncan-SSD, Date by K.
