Thank you Anna-Karin for your stencil challenge and wonderful tutorials! I used the techniques from your stenciled frames layout tutorial for this card.I cut frisket film and card stock (could have used acetate packaging) using Tim Holtz Tattered Leaves Sizzix die. I placed the card stock background over watercolor paper and traced the outlines of the leaves using a brown Pitt pen. Next I covered the background of the watercolor paper with the frisket film background and painted the leaves using Mustard seed, Fired Brick and Rusty Hinge distress ink. When that was dry I stamped the words over the leaves using Archival ink.I removed the frisket from the background and covered the leaves with their matching frisket shapes to paint the background with Weathered Wood distress ink.Lastly, I removed the frisket film covering the leaves and splattered Walnut Stain distress ink over the whole piece. It is mounted to a brown card base.* Frisket film is found in the art department. Mine is made by Grafix and I'm assuming it is very similar to Eclipse.Lessons learned : 1. Press the film down well, or water color away from the film (2 of my leaves got watered down a little while painting the background, the yellow leaf stayed cleaner.2. Cover everything or go outside to splatter paint! I splattered just about everything on my desk! Luckily it was water-based distress ink so it wiped up easily. 3. I'm glad I used archival ink to stamp the words. They would have smeared badly when the background wash leaked under had I used a water-based ink.I decided to quit here. I think this will be a sympathy card so I will put the sentiment on the inside. Let me know what you think. Does it need more on the front? Should I have put the sympathy sentiment on the front?TFL!Stamps : Stampendous Dream Text background stampInks : Tim Holtz/Ranger Distress, Wendy Vecchi/Ranger ArchivalDie : Sizzix Tattered Leaves
