This is for Cindi's Christmas All Year! Challenge, August Edition. http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/mb.asp?cmd=display&forum_id=22&thread_id=3247322 [twopeasinabucket.com] Thanks again, Cindi. Here's one more.
I also had Christinmay's Border Challenge in mind when I made this card. Thank you, Christin. I've enjoyed reading the Discussion Thread for your Challenge. Some of the borders are very intricate; this one is very simple and easy to do. http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/mb.asp?cmd=display&forum_id=22&thread_id=3249440 [twopeasinabucket.com]
You'll have to use your imagination to see the subtle sparkle from the Versamark Dazzle ink pad I used all over the flower petals and the card.
CARD: 4 1/4“ x 5 1/2” Core'dinations Color Core Cardstock, Tim Holtz & Ranger Distress Collection, Shabby Shutters Swarovski Flatback Rhinestone, Crystal, SS30
DIE: Tim Holtz Alterations, Tattered Poinsettia, by Sizzix
EMBOSSING FOLDER: Tim Holtz Alterations Texture Fades, Tattered Poinsettia, by Sizzix
INK: Distress Inks–Shabby Shutters and Peeled Paint, Vintage Photo and Walnut Stain Versamark Dazzle, Champagne
Before folding the card, I used the Score Pal to score the border lines so those are also on the back of the card. I sanded all the lines and coincidentally the edges. After folding the card, I sanded some more so the folded edge would match the other edges.
I die cut the poinsettias (two to three months ago). Before embossing them, I used an ink applicator to apply Distress Inks. After embossing them, I trimmed a couple of spots that didn't coincide with the embossed design. Looking at the scanned card, I see a spot or two I missed. Sigh.
I liked the poinsettia as it was, but it is a Christmas card, so I tried out the Champagne Versamark Dazzle ink pad. I used it direct-to-paper on both the card front and the poinsettia pieces. It gives a very subtle sparkle to the card, almost unnoticeable at first glance. If you see white specks in the scan, that's sparkle. I let the VM Dazzle dry, rolled the petals forward with a paper stump, and assembled the flower with Glue Dots. I used Crafter's Pick Ultimate Glue to attach the rhinestone.
I forgot to mention that I also inked up the backs of the petals. Since they are curved upward, I wanted anything that might be visible from the sides colored.

ETA 12/4/13: This is a remake of the original horizontal card. I ruined the card base on the original card. Tip: Keep ink pads closed when not in use. lol.
