This card is for Ann's Foil Project Challenge, http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/userblogpost.asp?id=68634. [twopeasinabucket.com]
This is fun to do, and I liked the results. Ann, thank you for the challenge, your clear instructions and the wonderful sample cards you posted.
CARD: 4 1/4“ x 5 1/2” Bazzill black cardstock
FOCAL IMAGE: Cuttlebug Dandelion Die Cut Reynolds Extra Heavy Duty Aluminum Foil Chipboard (from the box that comes inside of those acrylic box frames) 3M Super 77 Multipurpose Adhesive Rust-oleum Painter's Touch, Flat Black Spray Paint (I found the 97 cent can that Ann recommended, but I wanted to use the spray to paint my mailbox too.) 0000 Steel Wool Judikins Mod Mum Stamp Versafine Onyx Black Ink Pad
I die cut the dandelion die twice using the chipboard. I attached the two pieces together with spray adhesive. Using more spray, I attached the dandelion to a 3 1/2" square of the same chipboard.
I attached the foil to the dandelion/square chipboard. I pressed it down with my fingers to reveal the image. Then I used a large paper stump to define the image better and to press down the foil to the sticky cardstock. I did tear the foil in a couple of places between the flower petals, but that didn't show after the next step.
I spray painted the entire piece. After the paint had dried for several hours, I used steel wool to remove the paint from the raised flower.
Then I remembered I had to stamp on the foil so I went looking for something that would work. I stamped Judikins Mod Mum image with Versafine Onyx Black ink and heat embossed it with Clear Superfine EP. I didn't like it so I tried to get it off with the steel wool. I was able to remove the embossing, but not the ink. It looked better.
Then I started looking through my box of backgrounds that I had already made. I came across the one that I describe below, and it seemed like a perfect match. I assembled the card and added 3 Swarovski Rhinestones, SS16, Jet Black with Sakura's Glue Pen. I weighted those down to dry.
I didn't make the mat. At a stamp show, a demonstrator at a Judikins' booth gave it to me after she had made it. If I remember right, she used a brayer to ink up the cardstock with Mica Gloss Inks. When that had dried, she stamped it with Judikins Mod Mum and heat embossed the image. It's very beautiful. I had already made my focal piece with the Mod Mum stamped on the Cuttlebug Dandelion so it seemed like the perfect background to use. (I wish the colors and shimmer of the background could be seen in the scan.)
