Thank you, Joanne, for this challenge. I have lots of background stamps and love to use them. I've made two cards, both with the Chalk Resist Technique.

If you are not familiar with the super-easy Chalk Resist Technique, here is an explanation: I learned to do CHALK RESIST at the Toybox table at Rubberama this year. This is the way I saw it done by the demonstrator.
Supplies: a rag or paper towel, glossy cardstock, ColorBox Fluid Chalk inks in Alabaster and another color, background stamp, and a stamp with a bold design--not too much detail.
1. Have the rag handy. Stamp bg stamp with alabaster or another light color on the glossy cardstock. 2. Using the pad of the second color, immediately cover the cardstock with ink by tapping the ink pad directly on the cardstock. Do not wait for the alabaster to dry. 3. Immediately remove the ink with the cloth. She said to work fast. I think she used a circular motion. 4. When dry, over-stamp with the bolder design. Use an ink that will dry on glossy cardstock; for example, Staz-On, Archival, or a permanent dye ink. Heat embossing is optional.
That was it. In addition to glossy cs, she also stamped on some kind of thin board they were selling.
I tried this with VersaMagic, another chalk ink, and it didn't work, at least not for me. Too bad because I have lots of VM ink pads. I now have lots of CB Fluid Chalk ink pads
