The only stamping on these cards will be on the inside–just as soon as I can get it there!
Cards: #1 -- 5 1/2" x 5" #2 & #3 -- 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" #4 & #5 -- 4 1/2" x 6 3/8"
All of these cards were embossed with Dreamweaver Embossing Paste--Metallic Copper on the first and third cards, and Metallic Silver on the second and last two. I used 140-lb watercolor paper (both hot-press and the smoother side of cold-press) for the focal images.
After the paste had dried, I replaced the cleaned and dried stencil and used a large dauber to pounce glue from Tsukineko's Essential Glue Pad over the stencil. I added Variegated Metal Leafing over the glue--Variegated Red Metal Leafing on the first three cards and Variegated Black Metal Leafing on the last two.
HINT: Directions tell you to remove the stencil before adding the metal leafing, and that's what I normally do. However, I kept forgetting that step. After I realized that the metal leafing would clean off along with the glue, the initial panic subsided. (I always drop the stencils into a container with water and a bit of Dawn Dish Soap immediately after use. They can be cleaned later with a nail brush or a toothbrush.) I realized that leaving the stencil in place had side benefits. I didn't have to use a stipple brush to scrub off the excess metal foil, and the foil only went where I wanted it to. Now scrubbing it off works fine, but sometimes I notice that it dulls the metal a bit. OK. That's my hint for today. The downside is that you can't save the left-over bits of metal leafing.
