I used elements from the second and third projects of Jennifer's Holiday Thinking Inking Class for Week 7. There are three layers of Perfect Pearl techniques on this card. I wish the scan showed all the shimmer on this card.
ORNAMENT:
Dreamweaver Stencil–used to trace the ornament 140-lb. hot press watercolor paper Distress Ink, Pine Needles Stampers Anonymous, Tim Holtz's Fabulous Flourishes (Thank you, Jan!) Perfect Pearls (Forever Green) & water solution Versamark Ink Kryon Silver Leafing Pen
I rubbed the Distress Ink pad directly onto the watercolor paper. Then I spritzed the flourish stamp with the Pearlized Water and stamped it onto the inked paper. It was pretty, but there was no discernable image. See Trial #1 in the second scan. The second trial shows the results when I tried the same thing again, but with less spraying. It was a little bit better, but still not great. For the third trial, I inked up the stamp with Versamark first, and then I sprayed it with the Pearlized water. Voila! (That was the way Jennifer taught us to do water stamping last year–love that technique.) I used a Krylon Silver Leafing Pen to color the top of the ornament.
BACKGROUND:
140-lb. hot press watercolor paper Distress Ink – Tumbled Glass Perfect Pearls – Forever Green, Green Patina, Blue Smoke, Blue Patina
I inked the the paper with the inkpad. Then I used a brush to dab lots of Perfect Pearls all over. Then I sprayed the whole thing with water. I may have used too much water, but it's still very shimmery and pretty.
MAT:
After making the background, there was a lot of four different colors of Perfect Pearls on the craft mat. I brushed it all into a container for possible future use, and there was still a sheen of Perfect Pearls left behind. I spritzed it with water and put a piece of watercolor paper on it. I kept moving the paper around and picking it up until I had something I liked. I think it looks like silk wallpaper. That's the piece directly below the ornament.
OTHER: 4 1/2“ x 6 1/4” Bazzill cardstock – very dark green Swarovski Flatback Crystals – Emerald, SS16
