Sakura Gelly Roll Stardust Pen, clear (actually silvery color; will probably look gray here)

I loved the look of Jennifer's card and the cards I've seen posted with this technique, but I had some problems. Everyone else's cards have four separate colors. Mine blended together. I pressed the four different inks on the craft sheet. I used that ink to ink up the background stamp, but the four squares were not enough to cover the image so I moved it around a bit, thus the blended colors. Then I misted the inked stamp with water and put the watercolor paper on top of the image and pressed all over with my fingers. I wasn't too sure I liked the result, but the more I played with it, the more I liked it.

I stamped the sentiment with Staz-on, and one of the words didn't stamp. I used a stamp positioner to re-stamp, this time with VersaFine. I got a good image and tried to emboss it. The embossing didn't take, but it made the sentiment darker. I think I over-heated it and that the watercolor paper absorbed the embossing faster than my regular cardstock does.

I thought the card was rather drab (after all, the sentiment uses the word “splendor”) so I used Spica's Clear Glitter Pen on the stars. That pen doesn't release much glitter so I was going over it again when my daughter called me to see the sunset glimmering on a palm tree a couple of blocks away. When I returned to my table, I picked up the pen and continued highlighting the stars. Wow! What a difference! The rest did that pen good. I thought I had discovered the way to use that Spica Pen–just don't press down; the glitter was flowing easily. Then I realized I had picked up Sakura's Stardust Pen! That one really covers, and it's usually my go-to pen, but I wanted it to be perfectly clear this time, and the Stardust Pen is a bit silvery. I know from experience it's going to show up gray in the scan. Oh, well.

I'm actually surprised by how much I like this card. Thank you, Jennifer, for a new way to ink my stamps. Next time, I'll try for the four colors! TFL. Daria
