Retake on Thinking Inking -- Week 6 -- Still Wet!

Yikes! I didn't wait long enough. The Distress Stickles on the first tag smeared. I had to wipe it off the scanner and re-do that part of the tag. I knew it wasn't completely dry but had no idea that it would come off that way. Tomorrow or the next day, when it is completely dry, I'll repost a picture of it.

The first picture is the new one with the Stickles now dry. I also added a center for the flower on the third tag. I used a quilling tool to make it from a piece of raffia. I weighted it down as it dried to compress it. It seems to finish it off better. I had wanted to use a large copper brad, but I don't have any large brads. This seemed to do the trick.

I wanted to make some backgrounds for future use as well as some tags. This was fun so I experimented with different color combinations. I found it easier to blend and texturize the Dimensional and Liquid Pearls on the smaller shipping tags than on the larger pieces of cardstock (SU Whisper White, 5 1/2“ x 8 1/2”). Prospurring used even larger sheets of cardstock and had no problems. Maybe I wasn't using enough paint because it dried too quickly and I couldn't move it around.

Dimensional Pearls applied with the gray side of Cut-N-Dry Stamp Foam Pads

All Night Media (c. Anna Griffin) diamond grid stamp (a RAK from Gram-pea; thank you, Deborah!)
Versafine Ink – Vintage Sepia, Crimson Red, Spanish Moss
Tulip Fashion Bead Paint (There was no need to tap it from the bottom.)

I was going to emboss the stamped image, but then I realized the EP would probably stick to the paint since it was still a bit tacky. The ink did not dry quickly on the acrylic painted background. I blotted the image before drying it with a heat tool. I wanted it to be subtle. I hope you can see it!

Eggplant, Lettuce, and Mushroom Dimensional Pearls
Paper Flowers (a RAK from Far North; Thank you, Jan. I'm getting more of these!)
I painted the flowers with a wash of Eggplant Dimensional Pearls. I love the way this turned out.
I used Antique Linen Distress Stickles in the center of the flower.

Terra Cotta, Eggplant, Wild Plum Dimensional Pearls and Gold Liquid Pearls
The flowers came from a scrap of copper that I had dry embossed with a Cuttlebug folder. I used it to see if a heat gun was hot enough to change the color of the copper. (I'm still afraid to use a propane torch.) I liked what I saw so I punched out the flowers with an EK Success punch. The centers are Opal Liquid Pearls.

Butterscotch, Bottle, and Stream Dimensional Pearls
The flowers were yellow and were a RAK. (Thank you, Whoever You Are!)
I painted them with a wash of Dimensional Pearls (Butterscotch, Bottle, Stream) and Liquid Pearls (Opal).
I attached the flower with a Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher (first time I've used it). I used a glue dot for the top piece so the staple wouldn't show. I used a piece of raffia for the stem and leaves and attached that with Crafter's Pick – The Ultimate glue.

Unfinished Tags
1st tag – Lettuce and Denim
2nd tag – Denim, Stream, and Bottle
3rd tag – Cranberry, Red Pepper, Butterscotch, and Gold

The last two pictures are the backgrounds I made. You can see that they came out quite differently than the tags.

Jan, thank you for this series of challenges. It's wonderful to go back and use these supplies. I feel that now that I've tried them again, I'm more likely to use them in the future. I'm getting lots of new ideas this time around too.
