I went to the Original Rubber Stamp Show in San Jose on Saturday. I love watching the demos by Judi Watanabe of Judikins. Today I tried out some of the techniques she showed. One customer asked her to demo how she had made a lovely card that was hanging up. It had been made with Mica Magic Reinkers. Judi said that Mica Magic wasn't being made anymore and showed the technique with a different ink (Colorbox Fluid Chalk Ink, I think.) She will be carrying the Mica Magic ink under a different name beginning in January.*
Card measures 4 3/4" x 6 1/4".
Card is G Rated Rubberstamps' Glossy Linen cardstock. The matting is an unknown dark teal glossy cs.
I put dots of Mica Magic reinkers (Lime Gloss, Jade Satin, Blue Teal) on Judikins Mattekote cardstock. Judi said you need a coated cardstock for this technique. Then I brayered in one direction only to drag the ink across the cardstock. While the ink was still wet, I used an uninked Stamp Zia stamp to stamp the image and then give it a slight twist. This lifts off the ink allowing the cardstock below to show through the inked background.
The base card is white. The black around the edges is not a part of the card. The matting looks black here, but it is a dark teal blue. TFL. Daria
ETA: I altered the original card (second picture). With the help of a stamp positioner, I stamped the image again with VersaFine Onyx Black Ink. Then I embossed it with Ranger's Clear Superfine EP. I like it better this way (first picture). TFL. Daria
