Oh, duh! You knew about the Tulip stamp, it's the background you were unsure of. That I don't know, but it looks similar to Local King. Do you have any of those?
Guess what?! I have that exact tulip stamp, still mounted. It is PSX K-622. Cool technique. I will have to try it. I never had Colorbox Alabaster and I'm not sure if I have any colors now except maybe Chestnut Roan. There are so many hybrid inks now, something else might work. TFS! That fish background is really cool. Did you ever finish that card?
CARDS #1 & 2: Bazzill cardstock and glossy cardstock PSX Tulipa Background stamp is UM, and I forget who made it at the moment Colorbox Fluid Chalk inks I forget what I used for the black ink. I'm debating about adding black and red fibers to the second card.
CARD #3: Stamp Out Cute Escher Fish Background This one is waiting for a Fred Mullet fish to be delivered so I can complete the card.
The chalk resist was so easy and fun, and I love the result.
CHALK RESIST TECHNIQUE: I learned to do CHALK RESIST at the Toybox table at Rubberama this year. This is the way I saw it done by the demonstrator.
Supplies: Rag or paper towel Glossy cardstock ColorBox Fluid Chalk Inks in Alabaster or another light color and a darker second color Background stamp Stamp with a bold design--not too much detail.
1. Have the rag handy. Stamp background stamp with alabaster or another light color on the glossy cardstock.
2. Using the pad of the second color, immediately cover the cardstock with ink by tapping the inkpad directly on the cardstock. Do not wait for the Alabaster ink to dry.
3. Immediately remove the ink with the cloth. The demonstrator said to work fast. I think she used a circular motion.
4. When dry, over-stamp with the bolder design. Use an ink that will dry on glossy cardstock; for example, Staz-On, Archival, or a permanent dye ink. Heat embossing is optional.
That was it. In addition to glossy cardstock, the demonstrator also stamped on some kind of thin board Toybox was selling.
I tried this technique with VersaMagic Chalk Ink, and it didn't work, at least not for me. Tsukineko describes its VersaMagic Chalk Ink as a pigment ink with high opacity while Clearsnap describes their Colorbox Fluid Chalk Ink as a blended pigment/dye ink. I wonder if this difference explains why one works and the other does not.
