Homecoming in Texas
I make homecoming mums for a lot of the kids in our area and it is a requirement to have a lot of bling! So I pulled out three of them and took a picture. I am sorry that the picture is not the best.
Supplies Used: Bazzil cardstock, generic rhinestones, Making Memories black jewels, Bazzil chip board which is wrapped in aluminum foil. Generic ribbon, glitter paint. Letters are glitter sticker letters that I use on the homecoming mums I make.

Journaling is hidden under the photo. It has a pull tab w/rhinestones at the bottom:

I am sure that you have heard the old saying “Everything’s bigger in Texas”. Well that goes for football and homecoming mums. The high school football game is the biggest game of the season for the students and local community. The kids get all dressed up in their Sunday best (or better), which means a new expensive dress for the girls and staunch jeans and boots or suits for the boys. You’d almost think they were going to prom if it weren’t for the huge mums the girls pin across their chest with streamers that drag the ground adorned with plastic trinkets, footballs, bows and multiple “cowbells” that ring louder than Santa and his reindeer on Christmas Eve. In fact the bigger, gaudier, shinier, longer, bushier, brighter and glittery they are the better. The girls either has to have dresses made of sturdy material or bras made of steel to support these monstrosities. From the outfits I’ve seen, I’d say most choose the steel bras. These “corsages” aren’t cheap either. The cost of a homecoming mum can range anywhere between $40-$200 dollars depending on the size. Oh, and God forbid you opt for the lower end of the scale. They are a status symbol. It doesn’t even matter if you have a date; not as long as you have a mum.
