Paula, I had a great time working on your handmade journal! I used Anna Griffin paper, ribbon, buttons, embroidery thread, and a gold heart charm. This scanned horribly…the colors are way off…they are really muted IRL. Paula's theme is MOTIVATION. The journaling on page one reads: “My motivation comes from my children. They are the driving force that keeps me going every day, through thick and thin. I don’t think that I would even want to get up and face each day if I didn’t have them. Being a divorced mom of two teenagers is not easy. In fact, it sometimes seems downright impossible! Knowing that their well-being depends on me gives me added motivation to be the kind of mom they would be proud of. Throughout the hard times (and there have been many!), it has been such a comfort to have them by my side. It’s surprising how much kids understand what we adults go through. And their seemingly inborn capacity for empathy is amazing! But because I have them, I smile; because I have them, I live each day of my life with joy in my heart. They have made me the person I always wanted to be…a mom! I’ve l earned so much from my children…patience, unconditional love, appreciation for the “little things”, and strength of character. I can say that after nineteen years of being a mom, I still get a glow when I just sit and watch them. It amazes me that they are a part of me. My life would be mediocre without the richness that they have brought into my world. I can truly say that I look forward to each day spent with them as an adventure, a growth experience.” Journaling on page two reads, “Just knowing that I have to come up with responsible, adult answers to these questions (and more!) is all the motivation I need!v Mom, why can’t I blast the stereo all the time????? v Mom, can I get a choker with spikes on it?v Why are people so mean?v Mom, can I have the keys to the car?v Why is the sky blue?v Mom, did you used to like those old guys, the Beatles? v Why is there a war?v Mom, can you drive me to the mall?v Mom, can I borrow $20?v Mom, did you wash my really cool jeans?v Mom, what’s for dinner?v Mom, I’m hungry…whatcha got? (this is usually asked around midnight!)” In the center is a definition for motivation which I got from one of the online dictionaries…don't remember which one! TFL
