I took a class last night on precious metal clay- it's a clay that is made of silver added to a clay binding agent. You sculpt with it, and then fire it- the firing burns off the binder and you're left with 99.9% silver, that is even more pure than sterling silver. The three charms on the top row are actually stamped into the clay, then cut out and fired. The shine on these is made by burnishing- parts I left a bit rough, and other parts I polished up to a shine. The last charm on the top row has not been burnished yet, that is what it looks like after a rouch cleaning- not much shine. The first charm on the top row I broke while sanding it- it's been repaired though, and I kind of like how it's a mended broken heart :) The three charms on the bottom row are punched out, and tiny punches of silver clay in a paper form are stuck to them- the spiral, hearts and leaves- the “t” is stamped. The second scan is the back side of these, and has a quarter thrown in there for size reference. This was lots of fun. These are the first things I've ever made- so I don't know much about it really. Google “precious metal clay” for some good links :) TFL!!! tina
