Last year at our Christmas dinner celebration at my in-law's, my sister-in-law Sally brought out a set of “Slang Flashcards” made by Knock Knock. They had the entire great modern lingo included with photo examples and definitions. These flash cards turned a table full of conservative seniors into a street talking bunch gangstas!!! Hilarity ensued!

My favorite picture from our series of slang snapshots is this classic pose of my Father-in-law Harold, eating his blackberry pie with his slang card “pimp” posed strategically over his head (held in place by family instigator extraordinaire: Sally). It makes me laugh every time I see it.

I really hope Sally brings them along again this year!!

Journaling:
Our 2006 Christmas dinner @ the Pebbles was marked with an unexpected addition…THE SLANG FLASHCARDS!!!
We all read them and used them in conversation and then we took pictures with our “words.” I particularly love Harold's “PIMP” card photo.
Part of what makes me enjoy these memories is how silly and inappropriate for a formal Christmas dinner this was. It was one of the times I really felt like I fit in a little more and I sure appreciate their relaxed sense of humor and acceptance.
