When I was a little girl, a special memory was the Helms Bakery truck, which came into our neighborhood every morning to deliver bakery goods to the community. A distinctive ‘toot toot’ heralded the truck's deliveries, and the smell of fresh bread, rolls, doughnuts and other goodies permeated the block. The Helms bakery was located in Culver City, and several times in elementary school, we would take the long bus trip to visit the huge bakery for a field trip. The Helms Bakery was founded in the late 20s, and when the Olympic Games came to Los Angeles in 1932, Helms was the official baker for the games. Hence the new name, Olympic Bread. The Helms Bakery closed in 1969, but today the building has been restored, and houses shops and restaurants. It's located only about a half mile or so from my office. Sweet memories!I used a Photoshop Custom Shape for the shield, but had to modify it to fit the Helms logo. I also created a brush with the words ‘Helms Bakeries’ from a photo I took of the side of an old truck. The funny photo at the bottom left of the page, is a large 3D mural with a Helms truck crashing into the wall. Too fun!Old Typewriter font.
