This week's piece just evolved many times over. I started with one idea and then it grew and changed. I wanted to do something with an old record 12“ vinyl as the base. So, I guess I mixed the ”Through These Eyes“ and ”Around the World" themes. I spray painted over a Heidi Swapp world mask using gold spray paint. Then I painted using TIm Holtz metal stencils to add the numbers down the side as a countdown. THe barbed wire is texture paste through the negative of the Tim Holtz border masks. I silver leafed over that. Then, I added my photo on transparency over part of the images. I punched holes into the record with my crop-a-dile to create a distressed and acid eaten edge look. The words are rub ons. They tell of the things that I see on the news or in my world. Kind of a good Vs. evil take. THe butterflies and clouds are punched from an atlas and recycling paper. THe gears are spare parts from old watches to symbolize technology and the breakdown of old vs. new. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a127/sigmagirl/Worldthrougheyes_3.jpg [i10.photobucket.com]Finally, I decided to cut leaves from aluminum foil and pages from an old phone book. Added real glycerin preserved leaves all along the outside as a melding between nature and manmade.
