Finding the perfect Christmas tree growing up was always a challenge and usually ended up in a fight between my parents. Love looking back at all the trees. Good memories!Journaling:Oh Christmas Tree…Growing up in Colorado, fake trees weren't an option for our family!…we lived in the evergreen state after all! (actually the only fake trees were were silver aluminum ones…not exactly something that screams Merry Christmas in my mind). Getting the Christmas tree was always an adventure…we would excitedly head out to the tree lot, full of Christmas cheer and anticipation. Mom loved noble firs and the rest of us loved bushy trees. The tree picking would nearly always turn into an argument between Mom and Dad…and looking at the pictures, it looks like they both won about evenly. We did have some Charley Brown looking trees. Mom always did the lights on the tree after Dad wrestled it into the stand…a small three-legged number with screws that realistically could never adequately support a loaded Christmas tree without leaning or falling over. This proved to be true one of the years in the house on Redwood Drive…the tree kept falling over, so Dad put a hook in the wall and they tied the tree to the wall. Our tree decorations were a mix of Momâ¿”s home-made ornaments and some of the beautiful old-fasioned glass ornaments.
