One of the milestones I wanted to remember. Journaling says: As a parent, we are faced with specific milestones with our children that mark another step in growth and change…we have had many such moments with Shanna. One of those days came on September 8, 2006, when I took Shanna to Meier and Frank to buy her first makeup. She had asked if she could start wearing makeup and I told her yes…but with the provision that she learn how to put it on correctly and choose makeup best suited for her skin tone and complexion. We were lucky enough to get a young makeup technician at the Clinique counter. Shanna was reluctant to have a “makeover” and didn’t want the technician to do anything with her eyes…but she was so good, and made her so comfortable, that Shanna asked her to do eye makeup as well. $80 later, with a bag full of makeup and how to instructions, we walked away…with my girl looking way too beautiful and grown up to be just 14 years old…and so she takes another step closer to adulthood while I wonder how to stop time.
