How sweet! My son had one of those toddler beds too. His was decked out with Barney sheets and comforter...something he still has not lived down to this day, even though he will deny that he ever liked Barney...lol.
This is my dd and the tale of her new bed. The journaling in the pocket reads:
Chelsey was two years old when little brother Jesse was born. As he grew older, we realized he needed to be sleeping in the crib instead of the bassinet. Chelsey was still using it so we bought her a toddler bed. It used the same size mattress as her crib, was low to the ground and had a cute rounded metal head and footboard. The bed was white and we dressed it in a pink and white Minnie Mouse comforter set. At bedtime, we prayed with Chelsey, turned out the light and quietly left the room. Early the next morning, I got up to make Junior’s lunch, walked through the living room and this is the scene that met my eyes. Precious little girl got out of her new bed, grabbed her teddy bear & pillow, curled up on the couch. She must have pulled the blanket off the back of the couch. She slept peacefully and tried this trick for several nights. Finally, she got used to her bed and stayed in it. She never came to our bed, just the couch
