I went to a scrapbook store this afternon, and found the cutest handmade album. So, I studied it, and made one too! It holds 6 x 6 scrapbook refills. The outer shell is made out of two separate pieces of stiff, but not too thick, cardboard. I padded it with fleece (or you can use thin batting). Then I added the metal tag on the front fabric, covered both cardboard pieces with the fabric, folded the edges over, and then sewed around using a zig-zag stitch. Using my eyelet tools, I punched holes to correspond with those on the refills. Inside the cover, I used scrapbook paper to conceal the “raw edges” of the fabric and give it a more finished look. I cut a strip of embossed “leather-like” paper (also found at the scrapbook store. I punched out holes and added eyelets (the biggest ones that I could find were found in the notions area of a fabric store. The tool to set the eyelets can also be found in the notions section.) Then, I threaded satin ribbon (1 yard) to hold all the pages, back cover, and front cover together. Voila! I wish the pictures were clearer, because this is a darling book. It is holding roughly 45 recipes from the various recipe swaps I participated in during the 2004 Holiday Season.
