I've never really “decoupaged” before. I picked up this project sheet at Michael's yesterday and wanted to give it a try (I fell in love with the “crackled egg” look.) The instructions didn't say to use varnish. The first three pictures show it without varnish. I added varnish this afternoon (photo #4). You can't tell from the photo, really, but the high gloss varnish does give it a much nicer, finished look. TFL!
