For this month's focus on milestones, I decided to pull out some photos from what was at the time a major achievement for me- earning my second degree black belt. I earned my first degree and then had to have two unexpected knee surgeries, followed by a long and complicated recovery that had me out of the sport for more than a year. Finally getting back in, getting back into shape, and passing this milestone was so satisfying!I used lots of red, white, and blue on my page- not really a typical color palette for martial arts, but since I took my test in a gym on a military base, I was surrounded by flags and patriotic colors and it really worked for these pictures. Patriotic collections are actually great for scrapbooking about most sports- think about all the American flags in sports stadiums and shades of red and blue in many teams' uniforms!I included four of my favorite photos from the day on the main layout, but then I printed out 5 more at a 4x6 size and added a second page in a divided protector from We R Memory Keepers. There's been a lot of discussion about two page layouts on the boards lately, and while I love and do make traditional two pagers, I'm also very fond of how easy it is to add a second page with divided protectors. Just print a few photos to fill the slots, add some embellishment if you wish, and slip it into the album right next to the traditional page!
