The theme for the month of June at twopeasinabucket.com is milestones so I thought it'd be fun to continue with Jane's monthly layouts and show how I made one from start to finish. I LOVE using lots and lots of patterned papers on my layouts and this one was no exception. I wondered what technique I could show that let me use as many papers as possible and that's when I thought of the rolled paper technique. I've done rolled paper a few times on cards, but never big-scale on a layout, so I was excited for the challenge. I pulled out all of my 6x6 paper pads which are great for using lots of patterned papers because the patterns are scaled down and I didn't need papers any larger than 6“ to cover my supersize number. After spending the majority of the total layout creation time on making the rolled paper number, it was only a matter of embellishing with a title, a few stickers (from my new favorite lines ”Lakeside“ by Pebbles, ”The Pier“ by Crate Paper, and ”Hipster" by BasicGrey), plus a dab of journaling to finish!Journaling says: Weaned. Wiggly. Two teeth. Loves eating & Fox.How to: The video shows how to create the layout from start to finish. Here it is written: Choose 6x6 papers to match your photos then trim them into 1 1/2“ x various” blocks. The widest I needed was 6“ and the smallest was 2”. Using a strong adhesive, roll the paper blocks into tubes. I like to sit in front of a movie while I create tubes to make it go faster - win win! Print an extra large number, adhere the number onto scrap cardstock, cut it out, cover it with strong adhesive, and place the rolled paper tubes across the front; trim the excess. Add the number to a layout base, place photos, and embellish to your heart's desire!Supplies: Patterned paper, pen, date stamp, adhesive: American Crafts; Patterned paper: American Crafts, BasicGrey, Crate Paper, Pebbles, Studio Calico, Webster's Pages; Die cuts: Crate Paper (journaling spots, sentiment); Chipboard: Crate Paper (letters), BasicGrey (arrows), Pebbles (flowers, doily); Stickers: American Crafts (puffy doily), Pebbles (doily, flowers, heart); Sequins: Studio Calico; Ink: StazOn; Sewing machine: Brother; Thread: Coats & ClarkChallenge: Use 6x6 paper pads to make rolled paper tubes!
