Scraptathalon 1: Crocodile Rock
I based my layout on the Carole King Song You've Got a Friend. I used the following lyrics: If the sky above you grows dark and full of clouds,
And that old north wind begins to blow. Keep your head together and call my name out loud
Soon you'll hear me knocking at your door. You just call out my name and you know wherever I am
I'll come running to see you winter, spring, summer or fall. All you have to do is call and I'll be there.Ain't it good to know that you've got a friend!

Pic is of my friend and I in college back in 1994! I'm on the left! Hidden journaling is on several tags behind pic. Journaling reads: Spending a semester in Mexico is perhaps one experience that changed me the most. It was a realization of a childhood dream. I had always wanted to visit another country which was difficult for my parents to understand since they had never been on a plane and had only visited a few places within driving distance. It was also my first time away from home. Of course I had already been away to college for a year but that was only a 45 minute drive from my hometown. My first year of college, I called home every night and went home almost every weekend. This trip brought me out of my shell and into the world. I had to live with people I did not know. That’s how I met Jane. Jane and I were paired up as roommates the first month of the trip. At the time we didn’t think that we had much in common. She was athletic, I’m a couch potato. She was outgoing, I was shy. So when we were asked if we would swap roommates when we moved to Guadalajara we agreed without any hesitation. But by the time the first month was up and it was time to switch we had become close friends. I think we realized that we just complement each other perfectly. But those four months made me more independent and outgoing. It was a trip I will never forget. It was a trip that I feel shaped who I am today. I learned that I can live on my own. I fell in love with the people and culture of Mexico. I went on to major in Spanish and become a teacher. I share my passion for the language, culture, and travel. Jane has since become my best friend and we now laugh at how similar are lives are. We shared this life-changing experience together and over 12 years later we are still the best of friends.
