My Son-In-Law rides this 2 day 200 mile trek every summer. We are very proud iof his dedication to PMC-Here is his story.
Timothy Gallivan
Friends,
I don't know what the other thousands of riders and spectators are thinking at 5:30 am, the first Saturday morning in August. Barely daylight and barely awake; maybe it's their grandfather who never saw his latest grandchildren, maybe it's a spouse, who suffered and passed much too young, or the nephew, bald headed and laughing, as he successfully undergoes chemotherapy.

I'm sure there are many, many visions, serving as a source of strength, motivation, and determination. It's an awesome sight, all those people, with all that energy, it just feels special.

As I have in the past, during the ride, I will once again wear a shirt adorned with the names of many very important people; friends and relatives of ours who have battled cancer. Having those names on my back is my source of strength.

This disease is mean and nasty and has no conscience, whatever. But many of you already know this; you have seen it or experienced it.

And this is how we fight back.
I will ride my bike 192 miles in the Pan–Mass Challenge on August 5th and 6th. The PMC is the single largest contributor to the Jimmy Fund at the Dana–Farber Cancer Institute. Most of us give money to many charities. This is the charity that I will dedicate my greatest energies to.

I hope that you will help. My family has taken this challenge seriously this year and we trust that you want to be a part of the cure as much as we do. I will do the training and will do the hard work. All I need from you is a check. Consider donating the cost of a nice dinner out. If you can dedicate twenty–five or fifty dollars or more to helping find a cure, you will be in good company. Any donation will be appreciated.

If you would like to dedicate your donation to someone special, please include his or her name in a note or in the memo of your check. I will be honored to add their names to my shirt in hopes that the power of this combined effort will bring comfort to those special people.

I thank you in advance for joining the fight! Your tax–deductible check should be made payable to PMC/Jimmy Fund. I will be happy to pick up donations or you can mail them to me at 11 Harborlight Drive, Plymouth, MA 02360. If you have questions please call me at (508) 747–6237.

An easier way to donate is to go to www.pmc.org, click on the eGifts icon at the top left. The screen will ask you how you'd like to donate, choose the 'sponsor one rider' option, then 'search for a person by name', enter my name 'gallivan' and you'll find me!

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart,

Tim Gallivan
