This is my Grandmother on my fathers side of the family. She was quite the seamstress! She made this Pink Beauty of a dress for her second marriage on Valintines Day 1951. She looks to be bursting at the seems with PRIDE & JOY!. I remember when we were small, she lived with us and was always at her sewing machine mending or making somthing. My foundest memory (that I later realized) was when our school was having a Christmas Concert and 3 of us youngest girls were in it. 4th, 5th & 6th grades. But we did not have appropriate dresses to wear. Well she surprized us each with beautiful long dresses to wear. At the time, being too young to realize what a wonderful thing she had done in such a short period of time, I admit that I was a bit bratty about it because it was not store bought like all the other children participating. But we had nothing but compliments on those dresses! A true gift of Love! It's funny what we take for granted. She passed down some of her skills to me and I made my daughter her first Easter Dress. Thats when I really appreciated what she had done for us, for me! I regret never having the chance to thank her for what she had done for us. The realization came a bit too late.
The lace I stiched on by hand as a testamony to her craft.
