Our only male teacher was about to become a father. He and his wife did not find out the gender of the baby. It ended up being a boy.

As the only male teacher, he endures lots of girl conversation and takes it all in stride. So, for his baby shower I decided to go a little manly.

The shower was in our school library. It is very visually busy, but the only space we can sneak into and decorate during the day. The shower was right after school. He is in a portable classroom outside, so we did not have to worry much about him catching us as we set up.

I found a cut file that reminded me of him. It had a bowler hat, glasses, and a beard. I turned that into a wall decoration. I attached it to some MME paper and then to some burlap. I hung it with twine.

I cut many mustaches for the party on my Silhouette. Some were mounted to skewers to make mustaches for all the guests. Others were taped to chairs, scattered on tables, etc.

I cut many bow ties from patterned paper and sewed them into a banner on my sewing machine. I put cut outs back to back to stitch them so you would still see a pattern if the banner twisted. I didn’t realize until later that the bow tie image I used was not symmetrical, so you could see some white edges. Not a big deal, I knew this crowd would not notice.

I also put some bow ties on plain white onesies to make another decoration. It was a fun time.
