This was the first chapter book my son sat down and read. I had to scrap this when I started snapping picts. I hoped that I could encourage his reading by scrapping this moment.

What I used:

CS: Medium Brown, Tan, Beige, espresso, vanilla, white, yellow & black

PP: Unknown, cream vanilla background w/espresso colored dictionary words.

Stickers: Kid's Alpha Dome Stickers (K&Company)

Eyelets: Antique copper (M'bellish! by Cousins Corp.)

Rivets: Metallic Blue (Dollar Tree)

Fibers: Macrame Jewelry Cord (#1812 natural by The Beadery)

Fonts: (1) "Adventure" portion of opening file folder: Juice ITC 24 pt.; (2) "Recipes: portion of opening file folder: Raavi 12 pt.; (3) "The Book!" portion of opening file folder Tunga 10 pt.; and (4) words "FRIED WORMS" Beeline Worm 72 pt.

Journalings:
(1) "ADVENTURE" file folder.... "You started reading this book & couldn’t put it down. You first became interested in this book when it was turned into a movie. I wanted you to understand that the books are almost always better. I guess you really like this one, because you sped through this amazing story in only 2 ˝ days. Way to go, Adrian! September 2006";
(2) "RECIPES" file folder.... (I am omitting this portion, there are two separate, although gross, recipes for using real hornhorms and earthworms...PM me if you should want it for some reason);
(3) "The Book!" file folder ....reads .... "How to eat fried worms,  Rockwell, Thomas, 1933- , A perennial kids' favorite since its first publication in 1973, How to Eat Fried Worms is the story of Billy, who, because of a bet, is in the uncomfortable position of having to eat fifteen worms in fifteen days. The worms are supplied by his opponent, whose motto is, unfortunately, "The bigger and juicier, the better!" .........Children’s Literature: Alan has bet Billy fifty dollars that he can't eat fifteen worms in fifteen days. Billy decides he is up to the challenge, so he begins a long process to get down fifteen worms. The first few were hard for Billy, but once he was sure that he would suffer no ill effects, the rest were easy to eat. The challenge came in actually eating them, since Alan was not ready to lose fifty dollars. As trick after trick is tried and Billy sees through each one, the drama increases. Even the boys' parents get involved, at times helping Billy eat his worms but at times almost ruining the whole thing. This was a very comical book that any boy or tomboy should enjoy. It would be a great tool in opening the door to discussing betting, even small bets, and the risks that it involves. It also deals with friends doing things that upset each other, and how to get past the issues that arise and continue being friends after the incident is over. The back of the book contains several worm recipes, though of course these are not your garden variety worm. 2006 (orig. 1953), Dell Yearling/Random House Children's Books, and Ages 7 to 10."
