My first Christmas card for 2015. I made this for the January edition of Christmas All Year on Artsy Inkers. Thank you, Cindi, for the challenge.

Card: 4 ¼” x 5 ½”
Carnival Vellum, 80-lb. Cover (Forest Green, lighter Forest Green, Red)
G-Rated Rubber Stamps Textured Glossy
Art Institute Sticky Paper (for the Bargello Technique)

Just Rite Cling Christmas Holly Stripes Background Stamp (I only used the holly portion of the design.)
VersaMark Ink
Rangers Clear Superfine Embossing Powder

Penny Black World Peace (inside of card)
Versafine Olympia Green
Rangers Clear Superfine Embossing Powder

Cuttlebug Die, Holly Whisper
Zig 2-Way Glue, Chisel Tip (to glue the two die cuts together)
3M Permanent Mounting Tape (to mount the die cuts to the card)
Wink of Stella, Clear

Swarovski Rhinestones, Siam, SS16
Rangers Inkssentials Matte Accents

I used the Bargello Technique to make the background. I stamped the image onto the faded Forest Green and the Red cardstocks. Then I cut out just the section with the holly design to use on the card. The Textured Glossy cardstock has a pebbly texture that you can't see here. I cut the original strips 3/8” wide and attached them to the Sticky Paper, alternating colors. Then I cut them ¼” wide across the strips and attached them to another piece of Sticky Paper. The AI Sticky Paper is very thin so this cut down on the bulk. I just slightly staggered the strips to create the design. I think it looks a bit too busy.

I die cut the Holly Whisper twice—once in the faded Forest Green and once in white. I had thought to stagger the pieces, but that looked too very on the Bargello background. I ended up gluing the two together to make a more substantial die cut. Then I edged it with a green marker. Next time, I'll just cut two green ones. I painted the entire die cut with clear Wink of Stella. I attached the rhinestones with Matte Accents. I pour just a bit onto a craft sheet and use a stylus to pick up just a drop and apply it to the cardstock. Then it's easy to pick up the gem with tweezers and place them gently onto the drop of glue. You can vary the size of the drop by using different sizes of stylus. I use my smallest one when attaching gems.
