I’ve been making cards for twelve years, and this is the first sympathy card I’ve made. I’ve always found it too difficult to use the craft I do for fun to make one. I also haven’t wanted to send a store-bought card in case the recipient thought I didn’t care enough to make one myself--a dilemma that ended up with my not sending a card at all.
I’ve seen so many lovely, thoughtful cards that many of you have made and decided I could make them too if I just didn’t make them for a specific person. I thought I could just make a few ahead of time and have them on hand.
I started this card quite a while back, and when I went to put the focal piece into a card, I realized it would work well for a sympathy card so here it is. I completely copied a card by Judi Watanabe, and you can see her video tutorial here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5rZI4XtFR_0.
I used different inks, and my card isn’t as bright as Judi’s. Also, when I stamped with black ink and used black EP, I completely ruined my background. I switched to my old standby, Versafine Onyx Black ink and Clear EP, and that worked much better for me. I salvaged a piece of the first background and used it on the inside of the card.
