I really like this one. I think the yellow matting really brings out the touch of yellow in the corner nicely. You did beautifully on the technique on both cards. Want to try it too but a bit scared of it.
These cards were inspired by Heidi’s Bokeh Challenge on another board. I loved all the cards that were posted and the ideas that were shared. I tried a few different ways of doing this too, but these were the best of them. I watched several video tutorials; I especially liked one by Diane Dimich. The circles are actually more subtle in real life than they look here.
Cards: 4 ¼” x 5 ½” Gina K Designs Pure Luxury Ocean Mist Cardstock Bazzill Lime Cardstock Judikins Glossy Black Cardstock Arches 140-lb. hot press watercolor paper
Focal Image & Sentiment: Hero Arts Delicate Leaf Clusters Set Penny Black Sentiment Versafine Onyx Black ink Ranger Clear EP (Superfine used on the sentiment)
Bokeh Technique: Grafix Dura-Lar Clear Overlay Film (for the template) Spellbinders Nestabilities Circle Dies (for the template) Talons Transparent Watercolours Colorbox Pigment Frost White Ink
I also tried making the background by using Distress Inks on Specialty Cardstock. When I went to add the white pigment ink for the circles, it didn’t work so I switched to acrylic paints. The paints didn’t turn out as well as the pigment ink on the watercolor paper. It was better when I pounced the paint on with the finger dauber—not so well when I tried applying it with a circular motion. In any case, I messed those up when I stamped on them.
Heidi, thank you for the fun challenge. I have been wanting to try this technique. Now I have my template made, and I’m ready to do it again.
