this church was a site of a massacre - one of the worst events in the clan wars. The Macdonalds trapped a lot of MacLeods on a Sunday morning here, burned them alive in the church and then when one little girl escaped and ran to Dunvegan, the MacLeods then massacred the MacDonalds who has been trapped by the receding tide. And yet I kept thinking to myself what a beautiful place to lie for eternity. I didn't know the history until after we left. There are also Commonwealth war graves here now.
