I love what you did with the ornamental iron piece. The embossing is great. Love that you recycled the Marching Band from the uniform. It's so perfect for this page. Nicely done.
Wowsers!! Love what you did with the 'Marching Band' to make it fit. The buttons...now words, there. Lots of love and super creative craftiness in the layout! Just Wowsers!
WOW girl, you did good! I love the story behind the photo's & such a great lo. I love the "Marching Band" sticker & how you altered the color. I have been to Leavenworth, beautiful, quaint town!:)
What a fantastic page! How heartwarming that you used the tweed cloth. The marching band sign is excellent. Love the bg pprs. Lovely buttons. Beautiful design, and the black music ppr. is wonderful!
Well, I finally got around to making a layout. My first and only one for the month of March! I know, I'm sorta behind! :-) This is the first layout I've made featuring my two sons in over a year.
I took these pictures of my boys at the Autumn Leaf Parade in Leavenworth, 2009. Sam was a senior and Dan a freshman at the time. I miss those days. I was a very active volunteer band mom. I assigned band uniforms, tuxes and dresses as well as altering as needed and hemming and frequently chaperoned at parades and contests. One thing I should mention about that picture in the center, there were a couple of kids on either side of them and Sam started playing a song that is mostly a sax solo and just has the word "Tequila" here and there. The other kids joined in and they were laughing because they really weren't supposed to play it because of that word, and when it came to the spot they'd all yell "Tequila"! Still cracks me up just thinking about it! This was all while they were waiting for the parade to start.
The tweed cloth under the pictures and die cut is from Sam's old dress jacket that he wore out. I cut part of it up to use for crafting.
The die cut is from the Ornamental Iron II I cut out on my Cricut. I used Tim Holtz distress embossing ink on it, then sprinkled on black embossing powder and set it with my heat tool. The buttons on the left are pretty old, from my Mom's button tin so they are pretty special to me.
The diamond stencil is from Unique Laser Designs that I got when I was a Guest Designer.
The Marching Band sticker was red metallic and I wanted it to match their uniform colors better so I used some metallic gold dabber on it and when it dried I rubbed TH Dried Marigold distress ink pad over it.
