Finding Myself Collage - Gauche Alchemy

Hi! I'm sharing my take on the Gauche Alchemy April Challenge today. I just loved the graphic images, the patterns and the color in the inspiration piece. I immediately knew that I wanted to create a collage. My drawing and collage skills are extremely limited, but I didn't let that stop me! I used the packaging from one of my daughter's Monster High dolls as a starting point. I pasted colored shapes that I cut from magazines and some strips of washi tape over the original artwork on the box and came up with this piece. The collage was totally flat, so I added some dimension with a 3D bow, staples and rhinestones. The text is a Marilyn Monroe quote and something that I relate to: I'm trying to find myself. Sometimes that's not easy.
